Health and Safety Information

Your safety is extremely important to us. All registered visitors should be provided with a copy of our Health and Safety information leaflet for visitors, this is provided during your Health and Safety induction should you need to work unaccompanied in our facilities. The details include emergency information, campus map with fire assembly point and details on visiting laboratories. We ask you not to take personal risks. If an ambulance is required contact Security on x23311.

All new visitors to Chemistry and visitors that haven’t received a local building and Health and Safety induction are the responsibility of their host and must be accompanied at all times. Please follow your host’s guidance in the event of a Health and Safety incident.

We would kindly ask you to follow our Health and Safety procedures for visitors and read the following information.

For your own protection and the protection of others, our policy is that where possible, new visitors are escorted at all times.

In case of fire
  • Immediately inform a member of the School, preferably your host and they will activate the nearest fire alarm call point.
  • Do not attempt to tackle the fire yourself.
  • On hearing the alarm please exit the building and follow your host to the assembly point behind the Main Library.
First Aid

First aid information is located on every level, usually by the lifts. You are advised to call the first available First Aider and they will come to your assistance.

No Smoking

It is against the law to smoke on the premises, or in the immediate vicinity of the building.

Visitors with Mobility Difficulties

Please contact Chemistry Visitor Enquiries or your host on arrival should you require special assistance in the event of an emergency.

Please note this information does not replace the need for a local Health and Safety Induction if you have been advised that you require one.
